Overview:
The Blue Room will provide many opportunities for your toddler’s developmental growth. A daily routine will be introduced as your child will be eased into a single naptime and learning to sleep on a cot. Your child will begin developing more independent skills, such as learning to drink from a cup, eating with a spoon and much more as time goes on. This classroom is very busy and full of energy. The toddlers are just beginning to desire independence and yet at any moment may change their mind and want to cuddle and be little again.

Curriculum:
Daily activities will include but are not limited to circle time, reading books, rhythm and music stimulation, sensory activities such as water, sand and finger painting, imaginative and dress-up play, puzzles, art and science. A lesson plan is posted outside the classroom and provides information as to what types of activities are taking place. Typically, a lesson plan runs a course of two weeks and is created around a theme. All activities on the lesson plan are developmentally-age appropriate and individualized to meet specific needs of some children at different stages. The main areas of development that we will target are social & emotional, physical, cognitive, language, literacy, math, science. Your child will be provided many opportunities to assist them with learning, playing and exploring new things in a safe and fun environment.

Communication:

Good communication is very important and that’s why we will do our very best to keep you informed about your child’s day. We use daily sheets to help keep you updated on your child’s diapering, meals, events/activities and naptime. The daily sheets will also inform you about your child’s day and will let you know when he/she may need something such as clothes, diapers, wipes, etc.  Our classroom email is 500blueroom@gmail.com . Please use this to inform us of things such as doctor’s appointments, upcoming absences, etc. You are also welcome to email if you have any questions or concerns.

Diapering/Potty Training:
Diaper changes are scheduled every 2 hours throughout the day. However, if a child poops or is in need of a diaper change, we will change them immediately. Our room is also designed to assist children in potty training. When your child begins to show interest and you have begun the process at home for a week or more, successfully, than we will be more than happy to assist your child in developing this new skill.

“Fully potty trained” means that the child knows when he or she has to use the bathroom and does not need any assistance in the bathroom.

Again welcome to the Blue Room and we are excited to have you in our class and we look forward to working with you and your child. Our center has an open door policy which welcomes you to stop by any time and if you have any questions at any time, please feel free to contact us at 913-233-0323 or at UncleSamsAcademyforTots@gmail.com.
