Welcome to the Red Room Class…….

In this classroom we will work diligently to prepare your child for kindergarten, but also ask for your help at home. An open line of communication is very important, so we will keep you updated about any concerns or successes we may have.

We will focus on a weekly letter, number, color, and shape. Our lesson will be based on weekly storybook theme using the Emerging Language and Literacy Curriculum. The ELL Curriculum is literacy based which focus on Alliteration, Alphabet knowledge, Cognitive Development, Communication, Phonological Awareness, Print Awareness, Rhyming, Vocabulary and Writing.  Second Steps is our social-emotional curriculum where we learn to be a part of a group. It teaches skills where your child learns to express their feelings and manage their emotions. With the three different curriculums listed your child will learn the things needed for kindergarten.

On a daily basis your child will be able to play in the different centers listed below to be creative and to learn while playing. We are here to assist, encourage, and demonstrate to them the different ways to play and learn in our classroom centers. One day out of the week we will have show and tell to enhance your child’s vocabulary, letter recognition, communications and conversation skills. We will focus on a target letter and sound each week. Our goal is to build’s phonemic awareness and to create a home to school connection. If you have any question or concerns feel free to ask.
